Commission B Legislator Appreciates Transjakarta Lane Sterilization

Jakarta City Council's Commission B Legislator, Ahmad Lukman Jupiter appreciated Jakarta Transportation Agency's effort in sterilizing Transjakarta lane (busway) to maintain order and smooth traffic flow.

Jupiter said Jakarta Transportation Agency has cooperated with Polda Metro Jaya for its implementation.

"Now Transjakarta lane is smoother without problems," he said, Thursday (11/21).

Jupiter added that adding portals in the busway have been effective in preventing from other vehicles entering the lane.

"There are also Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) cameras," he added.

Meanwhile, another Commission B Legislator, Dwi Rio Sambodo explained structural and cultural approach is needed in dealing with traffic violators especially on Transjakarta lane.

The cultural approach is given in relation to public awareness. Meanwhile, the structural approach is related to the technical enforcement of the rules so that there are no more traffic violations.

"However, there is also discretion from the authorities due to situational condition," he said. 

Dwi wants officers of authorities to be able to enforce the regulation firmly against violators to give deterrent effect.

"We need sufficient resources to conduct surveillance in many locations. But drivers will easily enter the Transjakarta lane if there is no officer there," he stated.
